Rogers Youth Summer Basketball is holding its championship playoffs today, Thursday, July 14.

The league was started three years ago by Larry and Joan Simpson and Curt Sagehorn to provide youth a chance to extend their basketball playing opportunities into the summer.

The league takes a unique approach assigning one youth teammate as the team's captain for each team in the league. There are no adults coaching and no extra practices. Twice a week, for five weeks, Rogers Middle School has been home to these pick-up style basketball games. Older youth and adults serve as referees to keep the game in check and keep things rolling.

Girls and boys from 4th through 8th grade can participate. The program has grown to include more than 200 players this summer. Awards will be presented to the winning girls and boys team at the 5th/6th grade level and the 7th/8th grade level.

→  Cost  =  $85.00 per player

→  Boys and Girls with separate divisions 

→  5th – 8th  Grades (2011- 2012 Year) - 4th -7th graders now.
 
* Also open to 4th Graders to play 5th-6th Divisions 

→  5 x 5 games (One 40 Minute game per day) with Referees  

→  Monday's & Wednesday's- between 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm)  

→  9 League games + Tournament with Prizes
